SlackEarly signal

People reinstall the app to get back into their own work

3 people raised this across 2 weeks, on Android.

Android users in the United States, across three app versions.

In their own words

Neither app store gives a review a permanent public link, so each entry is a snapshot taken on the date shown and the link goes to the app's review listing.

BUILD IT

A session that survives a crash, and a repair that is not a reinstall.

See how3 points
  • Keep the sign-in token out of whatever state the crash corrupts
  • Offer a reset that clears the broken state and keeps the account
  • Hold the second-factor screen when the authenticator takes focus

Why it might not workReinstall-only faults usually live in stored state, which is the hardest thing to reproduce from a review.

START IT

A recovery layer that captures what an app was holding when it died.

See how2 points
  • Collects the crash with the account and session state attached
  • Aimed at teams whose chat tool is where the work actually happens

Why it might not workCrash reporting already runs inside these apps; the part missing is the part the person can see.

STUDY IT

What does an app take with it when reinstalling is the fix?

See how2 points
  • Record what is lost each time: drafts, history, sign-in, settings
  • Compare the apps where reinstalling is the standard advice

Why it might not workPeople reinstall when nothing else has worked, so the sample is drawn only from the worst cases.

WRITE IT

Turn it off and on again, except it is your job.

See how2 points
  • Follow one random sign-out through the reinstall it forces
  • Quote the reviewer locked out by the second step of sign-in

Why it might not workOne build on one platform is a narrow story unless the same shape is found elsewhere.
